The MD/DC Society of Enrolled Agents is a non-profit organization serving Enrolled Agents in the Maryland/DC area. It is a state society affiliated with the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA). In November of 1975, a local group of Enrolled Agents formed the Association of Enrolled Agents/National Capital Area to provide support, education, and networking for Enrolled Agents in the DC metropolitan area. In 1976 the state society affiliated with the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) to support national efforts addressing the concerns of Enrolled Agents before the Internal Revenue Service and the United States Congress. In order to more accurately reflect the geographic boundaries of its membership, the Association of Enrolled Agents/National Capital Area petitioned NAEA to be recognized as the Maryland/DC Society of Enrolled Agents. This request was granted in June of 1991. |
The Society provides continuing education and networking opportunities for its membership through regular meetings. These meetings, featuring high caliber topics and speakers, are open to the public. Nonmembers and members of related professions are welcome to attend. The Society has also conducted Special Enrollment Exam (SEE) preparation classes at local colleges to encourage and assist individuals desiring to enter the profession. The MD/DC Society, along with other state and local societies, cooperates with NAEA in encouraging recognition and support of the profession and contributes to national efforts to communicate, on behalf of taxpayers and tax practitioners, with the Internal Revenue Service and Congress regarding tax law, policy, and procedure. |
